Water and Wastewater
The Township of Perth East Public Works Department owns two water and wastewater collection, treatment and distribution systems: the Milverton Wastewater System and the Shakespeare Wastewater System. The Township is committed to provide and maintain a modern, reliable system to ensure that all residents can rely on a effective system which is safe for residents, visitors and the environment.
2018 Water and Wastewater Master Plan
As of June 1, 2021 all water and wastewater treatment facilities are operated by the Township. The Township is responsible for all monitoring, quality assurance, quality control, reporting, inspection, collection, distribution and maintenance of these systems.

How to Pay your Water Bill
Payment options available for utilities (water, wastewater) are;
- Payment by cash, cheque or debit during regular office hours
- Night deposit box located beside council chambers
- Cheques sent in the mail
- Payments at your local bank branch
- Telephone or Internet banking through CIBC, TD Canada Trust, Scotia, Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal, National Bank and most credit unions
- Account Set-up (found under Perth East Township or Township of Perth East)
- Choose Utilities
- If you have more than 1 account, you need to set up separate accounts for each account
- Account # is: 7 digits (full account number minus the decimal), start with 0

- Pre-Authorized Payment Plans (PAP)
- One of the simplest ways to pay your water or wastewater bills is through a pre-authorized payment plan. Your bill can be set up to be deducted from your bank account on the due dates.

Why is my bill higher this time?
Your water bill is likely higher due to an increase in water usage. Your water usage may increase for many reasons:
- More people in your household
- Running or leaking toilet
- Running or dripping tap
- Seasonal usage
- Water cooled air conditioning
- Leaky plumbing
- Water softeners
- Leaky lawn sprinkler system
Can I have my bill emailed to me?
I am moving in/out of Perth East or to another home in Perth East
You will need to request a final read of your water meter. Please fill out a form at the municipal office.
