Road Naming
Naming or re-naming of road allowances should be determined in a manner that incorporates local history, culture, and environmental features, as well as organizations or individuals who have made significant contributions to the municipality or society as a whole.
The Township of Perth East is currently accepting Road Naming suggestions from the public to build an Approved Road Name Inventory that developers etc. would then have a list of already approved names they could choose from.
Developers etc. still have the option to submit and go through the process for a a name that isn’t already on the Approved Road Name Inventory list.
Application Process:
Applicants shall submit an application for a road name providing the following:
- background information concerning the rationale for consideration of the request
- biographical information if named after an organization or an individual; and,
- documentation including letters form organizations and individuals providing substantial support for the request.
The application will then be circulated to municipal staff, Public Works, Fire, and the County of Perth for comments and review. Once all comments are back a report will be taken to Council with a recommendation to either approve or not approve the name/re-naming.
If assistance is needed to find appropriate documentation or research for background information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Stratford-Perth Archives.
