Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT)
What is the Ontario Land Tribunal?
The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT, and formerly known as the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal(LPAT), and before that known as Ontario Municipal Board OMB) is an adjudicative tribunal that hears cases in relation to a range of land use matters, heritage conservation and municipal governance.
Appeals that come before LPAT are identified through policies found in various Provincial legislation including the Planning Act. These include matters such as official plans, zoning by-laws, subdivision plans, consents and minor variances, land compensations, development charges, and other issues assigned by numerous Ontario statutes.
The Citizens’ Guide – Ontario Land Tribunal is a resource created by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing that provides more information.
