Budget
The annual budget focuses on the Township’s Corporate Values; Progressive, Service-oriented, Caring, Fiscally Responsible, Collaborative, and Enthusiastic.
With Strong Mayor Powers announced for Perth East in April of 2025, this has changed the budget process. The Mayor now has a duty to prepare and propose the budget, whereas in the past it was prepared by Staff and adopted by Council as a whole.
In July 2025 the Mayor’s Budget Visioning Meeting was held to gather the Public’s, Staff, and Council’s priorities to incorporate into the budget. This Meeting also included responses from the Public and Council budget surveys.
In October 2025, Staff presented to Council their prepared Operations Budget. The Operations Budget includes expenses for the day-to-day needs of the Township.
In November 2025, Staff presented to Council their prepared Capital Budget. The Capital Budget includes expenses for one-time projects in the Township. The capital budget is a multi-year financial plan that provides for the construction or acquisition of capital works. The capital budget Includes future financial resources required to finance capital projects and identifies the financial resources to be allocated from the operating budget to operate and maintain capital assets.
On November 24, 2025, Mayor Ehgoetz released the 2026 Mayor’s Budget to the members of Council, which then became available to the public on December 1, 2025. Council members had 15 days to make amendments if they chose to. There were no Council amendments so the 2026 Mayor’s Budget was deemed adopted on December 8, 2025.
