Water Department

The Township of Perth East Public Works Department owns two water supply and distribution systems, the Milverton Water Supply System and the Shakespeare Water Supply System. The Township is committed to provide a high-quality of drinking water, and maintain a modern, reliable system to ensure that all residents can rely on a water supply that is both plentiful and safe.

The Responsibilities of the Water Department

Currently both water supply and treatment facilities are operated by American Water Canada (AWC), a division of American Water. AWC is responsible for all monitoring, quality assurance, quality control, reporting, inspecting, distribution and maintenance of these systems. Some of the major responsibilities of Township staff are the maintenance and upkeep of the water distribution system, watermain flushing, water meter reading, water meter replacements, water valve maintenance, capital project oversight, service repairs and new service connections.
