Building/Renovating a Structure
The Building Department is committed to protecting public safety through the issuance of building permits and inspecting various stages of construction. Through the enforcement of the Ontario Building Code, staff ensures a minimum standard of health, life and fire safety standards are maintained. We do this through the issuing of permits, reviewing construction plans, and inspecting at various stages of construction.
Permits are a vital step in the enforcement of codes and regulations. Permits MUST be obtained before any work or activity begins. Permits provide the means for the Township to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its citizens and visitors, while helping residents to understand what the local by-laws and regulations are. They enable municipal officials to review and inspect the works or activities authorized by the permits, to ensure that minimum standards are met.
