Allstate Foundation

Charities and not-for-profit organizations that are involved in a variety of activities or educational initiatives around road safety, crime prevention, and home safety.

RBC After School Grants

RBC announced its call for grant applications for the 2011-2012 school year as the RBC After-School Grants Project is offering more than $2 million in grants to fund first-time and renewed grant recipients. The grants are awarded by regional community panels made up of experts in the fields of youth and education. Each organization should have a mandate to keep students in grades K-12 safe as well as positively engaged through an enriched curriculum after their classes end each day. RBC After-School grants of up to $40,000 are provided by the RBC Foundation to programs in at-risk or underserved communities

Ontario Minisry of Health Promotion-Healthy Communities Fund

Local and provincial not-for-profit organizations that provide and enhance opportunities for physical activity and community sport and recreation. Funded projects generally fall under one of four types: planning, implementation, development, or a combination thereof.

Ontario Trillium Foundation

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), is one of Canada's leading grant-making foundations and is an agency of the Government of Ontario. OTF is a catalyst that enables Ontarians to work together to enhance the quality of life in their communities. They believe that communities across Ontario are rich in talent, creativity and drive, and our grants stimulate communities to build on these assets.

RBC - Play Hockey Grants

Community hockey organizations, sports associations and hockey-minded individuals with great ideas to grow the game and keep hockey vital. Support will be provided to a variety of hockey initiatives with an emphasis on those that increase access to the game of hockey, break down barriers to entry, introduce the game to newcomers to North America, and keep hockey growing and vibrant.

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada -Enabling Accessibility Fund

Nonprofit organizations intending to hold an event between June 1st, 2011 and March 31st, 2012 can apply for up to $75,000 in funding to ensure accessibility and full participation of persons with disabilities. Projects could include items such as: sign-language interpretation, real-time captioning, readers and scribes, support persons, and interveners.

Benjamin Moore & Co.

Benjamin Moore & Co., Limited, in partnership with the Community Foundations of Canada, offers cash grants (up to $4,000) and paint (up to $750 retail value) to support heritage restoration projects in Canada. Canadian registered charities with volunteers from the local community may apply for funding, but priority is given to the specific communities targeted in Benjamin Moore's three regions: Western, Central and Eastern. FORZANI GROUP LTD

FORZANI GROUP LTD TEAMS UP WITH KIDSPORT™ TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH KidSport™ Canada and Forzani Group LTD have teamed up to provide the opportunity for youth across Canada to get healthy and physically active by participating in sport. Forzani through its Power of Sport for Kids Program has donated $100,000/year for three years to go towards promotions, supporting the network of KidSport chapters and sport grants to kids. Cultural Spaces Canada

Initiative that contributes to the improvement of physical spaces for artistic creativity, presentation and exhibition, including the renovation and expansion of arts and heritage facilities. Not-for-profit arts and heritage organizations as well as some provincial/territorial, municipal or regional governments and agencies, or equivalent Aboriginal peoples institutions or organizations, are eligible to apply for funding anytime throughout the year. The CSC program generally supports up to 33% of eligible expansion or renovation projects and up to 40% of eligible specialized equipment purchases.

Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Contributes toward projects that strengthen communities in Atlantic Canada by promoting economic development and addressing particular challenges faced by communities. Not-for-profit, non-commercial organizations in Atlantic Canada with projects that clearly fit the objectives of the program are eligible to apply for funding.

Infrastructure Canada

Helps fund small scale municipal infrastructure projects such as cultural and recreation projects, or water and wastewater treatment in small and First Nations communities.

Nature Canada

Designed to teach young Canadians to become active and responsible environmental stewards through learning experiences offered by naturalists in Canada's natural parks. Not-for-profit organizations in Canada such as community groups, environmental groups, charities, and schools are eligible to apply, and priority is given to environmental education projects that take place in national and provincial parks, national historic sites with large natural areas and national marine conservation areas. Proposals are usually due in December each year.

Community Energy Partnerships Program (CEPP)

To educate communities about the development of renewable energy generation facilities; To encourage local community engagement, participation and investment in renewable energy projects by increasing awareness of renewable energy; and to provide funding for education involving a diversity of technology types and geographic regions in Ontario. Applications will be accepted until June 3, 2011

The aim of the program is to: Support the creation or revitalization of tourism attractions, sites and experiences Support innovative product development for emerging sectors that have demonstrated market potential Enhance the quality of tourism services, businesses and practices through training Assist with tourism planning and capacity support to ensure that the tourism industry is well positioned to make future strategic decisions, address issues and opportunities Assist communities with investment readiness, investor relations, investment attraction and communications. Canadian Geological Foundation

For more than 40 years, The Canadian Geological Foundation has played a key role in sustaining geoscience education, outreach and awareness across the country. Provides financial support to community groups that have measurable, positive impacts on the environment. Funded projects promote the participation of local communities to address clean air, climate change, clean water, and nature to protect, rehabilitate or enhance the natural environment. Aviva Canada

Aviva Canada, one of the country's leading providers of home, auto, recreational vehicle, group and business insurance, is proud to announce that the Aviva Community Fund competition will return in the fall of 2011. The company will once again offer $1 million to encourage Canadians to lead, empower and support community initiatives across the country. Whether it's a project that will help get at-risk youth off the street and back into school, or other ways to extend a hand to those in need, the Aviva Community Fund enables individuals and groups to not only submit a community initiative for funding, but also become actively involved in making change happen.

Minstry of Citizenship and Immigration - Partnership Project Grants. The program supports projects of one to three years that are aimed at making a significant impact on Ontario's not-for-profit sector. The grants are aimed at projects that build capacity in the sector in areas such as communications, coordinated service delivery, volunteer management, training and governance

Molson Coors Canada

The application process runs until January 5 2012, and is open to community focused initiatives that aim to bring people together to be physically active, such as the construction or improvement of sports and recreation facilities or a community program that motivates physical activity.

SiriusXM & S'Cool Life Fund

By providing instruments, sheet music, instrument supplies, and uniforms the SiriusXM Instrument Fund was created to help support the efforts of elementary schools across the country to refresh existing music programs and develop exciting new programming for students. Funding will be equally distributed between English and French language schools and will offer children an opportunity to benefit from their connection to music. Grant applications for the 2012/2013 school year are currently available on-line and accepted until January 31, 2012; all applications will continue to be accepted through S'Cool Life Fund. Schools may apply for one grant per school per calendar year; S'Cool Life Fund applicants who have already applied for a music grant for 2012 will automatically be considered for this new funding where possible. Recipients will be selected in spring 2012.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation

Helps groups spark action on this issue in their communities. This competition provides financial support for advocacy initiatives that focus on increasing access to physical activity and/or healthy food for children across the province.

Canadian Mental Health Association

Seeking expressions of interest from community mental health agencies, consumer/survivor initiatives and other organizations in Ontario serving people with serious mental illness to start a healthy eating and/or physical activity program.

RBC

RBC Blue Water Project Leadership Grants range from $25,000 to $500,000 and are eligible for organizations with projects in any of the regions in which RBC is located, including Canada, the United States, Caribbean and the British Isles. The RBC Blue Water Project is a 10-year, $50 million philanthropic commitment to support organizations that are committed to watershed protection and providing access to clean drinking water. Since 2007, RBC has committed more than $32 million in single and multi-year grants to over 450 organizations worldwide. Being selected for a grant is a competitive process. In 2011, RBC received over 180 applications for leadership grants, and 31 of these were successful in receiving funding.
